A welcome message from your PTA President…
Hello fellow Cougars!! This is my first welcome letter as your incoming PTA President and I am excited about this school year. First, I want to warmly welcome all the new incoming families to our school. It seems like just yesterday, we worried about a new school, school supply list and friends we would make. Just know, all your concern will soon melt away as you become part of one of the best communities of families, teachers and staff.
The Catlin PTA is an integral part of the Catlin family. Not only do we get to host fun events during the school year. We also provide funds and volunteers to our teachers and staff.
All of this truly does take the hard work and dedication of our Catlin community. Each one of has a skill, talent and resources to help reach our goal. For some, this will be volunteering in the classroom. For others, heading up a committee that brings something special to our students. We all want to have the best education and school experiences for our children, and that’s why individually we are asking you to come together as a school community and do what we can to make all this happen.
Please consider joining the PTA. We can’t wait to kick off a great school year…and that all begins at our Kick-off meeting on Monday, September 10th at 6:30 p.m.
What is the Catlin PTA?
The Catlin PTA (Parent – Teacher Association) is a non-profit volunteer organization which purpose is to serve and support the students, staff and teachers here at Catlin Arts Magnet Elementary.
What does the Catlin PTA do?
Our PTA meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month in the library. Everyone regardless of membership is welcome to come listen and take part in discussion at meetings. Coming to meetings is a great way to get to know your follow Catlin parents learn and talk about what is happening around the school and to know about updates from the staff. Aside from meetings, Our PTA also host fun events throughout the school year.
Here is just a sampling of items and services the PTA provides to our school:
- Family Nights Out
- Teacher Appreciation Week
- Fundraisers: TAGG, Back to School Night, Carnival, Box Tops for education, Scholastic Book Fairs & More
- Enrichment Programs
- 5th grade Celebration Day and so much more!
How do we do it all? With your help!
As you can see, the PTA does a lot of great things for our students, staff and teachers, but we could do so much more with your help! We would really like to encourage every Catlin community member to please find some time to volunteer throughout the school year. Whether it would be assisting in the classroom, helping on clean up days, researching or writing grants from home there are countless fun ways to get involved.
Without help, students, teachers and staff would miss out on things like field trips, 5th grade celebration day, annual events and more. Again, many hands make light work – the more volunteers getting involved in our school, the more of a community our school becomes. We would really appreciate if you could share your time and talents with us.
